Our political stalemate required louder voices

On Monday, the Half in Ten Campaign, National League of Cities and Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity sponsored an event on the role of state and local governments to combat poverty. The From Poverty to Opportunity Campaign and the Commission of the Elimination of Poverty were highlighted at this event, with Heartland Alliance's Amy Rynell on a panel with individuals talking about similar efforts in Connecticut, Minnesota, and the City of New York.

Take a moment to read the synopsis of the event, which give a great overview of the momentum being built across the United States, both on the national level and in local communities, to come up with a comprehensive vision and plan to address poverty. In Amy's comments, she spoke to grassroots, human rights movement built by the campaign, noting :

"Our politcal stalemate required louder voices."

A webcast of the event will be available shortly. We will add it to this post once it is available.
